  • Methylmethaqualone and flurofentanyl found in ‘opioid’ capsule
by PRN Admin on 3 October 2025 at 10:59 am

A capsule filled with an off-white powder expected to contain an unknown opioid was found to contain methylmethqualone and a fluorofentanyl. CanTEST has detected MMQ by itself previously (a Yellow Community Notice was issued in Nov 2024). Effects Methylmethqualone (MMQ) is an analogue of the more common methaqualone (MQ). It’s a quinazolone sedative hypnotic – which is a central nervous Read More The post Methylmethaqualone and flurofentanyl found in ‘opioid’ capsule first appeared on The Know.

  • Isotocyanozene found in benzo sample
by PRN Admin on 3 October 2025 at 10:43 am

A capsule filled with and off-white powder expected to contain an unknown benzo was found to contain the novel nitazene isotocyanozene (5-cyano-isotodesnitazene). This is the second detection of isotocyanozene at a drug collection service in Australia, with the first being in late September 2025, also at CanTEST in Canberra. There is no readily available data on isotocyanozene globally. Effects The Read More The post Isotocyanozene found in benzo sample first appeared on The Know.

  • Confirmed detection of N-pyrrolidino protonitazene and protonitazene in Queensland
by PRN Admin on 3 October 2025 at 1:45 am

There has been a recent case of N-pyrrolidino protonitazene (also known as protonitazepyne) and protonitazene detected in toxicology and tablet samples, in South-East Queensland. N-pyrrolidino protonitazene and protonitazene are very strong synthetic opioids that work like heroin or fentanyl and can produce life-threatening toxicity in small amounts. The appearance of the sample is a pale yellow, bear shaped pressed pill Read More The post Confirmed detection of N-pyrrolidino protonitazene and protonitazene in Queensland first appeared on The Know.

  • 4′-Cl-deschloroalprazolam found in expected ‘benzo’ samples
by PRN Admin on 30 September 2025 at 10:46 pm

A BROKEN WHITE BAR PILL (Xanax press), (expected to contain alprazolam) AND TWO BROWN CAPSULES (expected to contain unknown benzos) were all found to contain 4′-Cl-deschloroalprazolam. The white bar pill (Xanax press) also contained flubromazepam, clobromazolam, and ethylbromazolam. What does this mean? 4′-Cl-deschloroalprazolam is a new benzo that’s been found for the first time at CanTEST in these samples – Read More The post 4′-Cl-deschloroalprazolam found in expected ‘benzo’ samples first appeared on The Know.

  • Metonitazene and Protonitazene found in ‘opioid’ capsule
by PRN Admin on 24 September 2025 at 1:19 am

A CAPSULE FILLED WITH WHITE POWDER expected to contain an unknown opioid was found to contain the highly potent synthetic opioids metonitazene and protonitazene. While both metonitazene and protonitazene have each been detected separately at CanTEST, this is the first detection of a combination of these nitazenes in a single sample by drug checking service in Australia. Both metonitazene and Read More The post Metonitazene and Protonitazene found in ‘opioid’ capsule first appeared on The Know.

  • Blue ‘M30’ tablets containing extremely potent ‘nitazene’ opioids
by PRN Admin on 19 September 2025 at 7:31 am

Nitazenes are novel synthetic opioids that can produce life-threatening toxic effects in very small amounts. Opioids are central nervous system depressants, typically producing a range of effects including pain relief, sedation, and respiratory depression (dangerously slow breathing). Respiratory depression often appears more quickly with novel synthetic opioids (NSOs), increasing the risk of life-threatening overdose. Nitazenes are extremely potent NSOs, which means they can produce Read More The post Blue ‘M30’ tablets containing extremely potent ‘nitazene’ opioids first appeared on The Know.

  • New detection of a nitazene in blue fake oxycodone pill
by PRN Admin on 18 September 2025 at 6:54 am

The Victorian Pill Testing Service detected N-desethyl isotonitazene in a light blue pill. (Stamped ‘M30’) What are nitazenes? Nitazenes are a type of potent synthetic opioid (PSO). Strength varies, but some PSOs are more potent than fentanyl and up to 500x more potent than heroin. Risk of overdose from nitazenes is very high. A very small amount can result in overdose.
